How I Test

Thirty days minimum before I write anything. Thirty days is also often not enough, which is why most suites here have been running for six months or more. First impressions in antivirus are often wrong. A suite that scans fast on install can slow down a machine noticeably by week three once it starts running scheduled full scans. I note that.

Every subscription is paid for out of my own pocket. No vendor review copies. No early access in exchange for favorable coverage. If something performs poorly, I say so.

What the Results Mean

Testing here is on my machines, in my environment, with my usage patterns. A Windows 11 gaming rig in Charlotte, North Carolina, running the same suite that might behave differently on a corporate laptop or a MacBook in a different context. I compare my results with independent lab data where available. When they disagree, I note the disagreement and say which result I trust more and why.

Affiliate Relationships

Some links on this site are affiliate links. Click one, buy a subscription, I get a small cut at no extra cost to you. The commission doesn't change what gets reviewed or how I rate it. A suite that underperformed in testing gets an honest review regardless of whether it has an affiliate program or not.
